Are you Non Binary?

As you might have noticed the modern society is still plagued with many of the gender stereotypes. Modern society doesn’t treats it as a problem and even if a few section of the society recognizes it they fail to address the situation. The problem with most of the people is that they fail to identify the root cause of these issues. It happens due to the fact that our education system doesn’t imparts critical thinking into the children.

A part of the problem also occurs due to the fact that parents had also fallen prey to these stereotyping. Now they might not even know about it and teach it to their children. Whatever we learn during our childhood have a great impact on our later lives. It is due to the fact that our subconscious minds gets programmed during those years. If we pay a careful attention to what we teach our children then without much effort we could create a drastic positive change in our society.

This type of thinking often leads to various criminal activities for example in many of the developing countries women are still considered to be at home and take care of the children. It is considered to be their primary duty. Now if they try to break out of it they face severe consequences and are often shamed by the society or may even face domestic violence. Similarly males are expected to be the earning members of the family and if they fail in it then they might have to face rejection from the society and they may have a tough time. It is a very sad reality of the modern world.
“In fact, there is perhaps only one human being in a thousand who is passionately interested in his job for the job’s sake. The difference is that if that one person in a thousand is a man, we say, simply, that he is passionately keen on his job; if she is a woman, we say she is a freak.”
Dorothy L. Sayers, Are Women Human? Astute and Witty Essays on the Role of Women in Society

“Gender is a shell game. What is a man? Whatever a woman isn’t. What is a woman? Whatever a man is not. Tap on it and it’s hollow. Look under the shells: it’s not there.”
Naomi Alderman, The Power

“Yet if women are so flighty, fickle, changeable, susceptible, and inconstant (as some clerks would have us believe), why is it that their suitors have to resort to such trickery to have their way with them? And why don’t women quickly succumb to them, without the need for all this skill and ingenuity in conquering them? For there is no need to go to war for a castle that is already captured. (…)
Christine de Pizan, Der Sendbrief vom Liebesgott / The Letter of the God of Love

“I had a romance novel inside me, but I paid three sailors to beat it out of me with steel pipes.”
Patton Oswalt Are Women Human? Astute and Witty Essays on the Role of Women in Society

“What we ask is to be human individuals, however peculiar and unexpected. It is no good saying: “You are a little girl and therefore you ought to like dolls”; if the answer is, “But I don’t,” there is no more to be said.”
Dorothy L. Sayers, The Intimate Journal

“Immodest creature, you do not want a woman who will accept your faults, you want the one who pretends you are faultless – one who will caress the hand that strikes her and kiss the lips that lie to her.”
George Sand, The Worth of Women: Wherein Is Clearly Revealed Their Nobility and Their Superiority to Men

“When you hear men talking,” said Cornelia, “all they ever do is speak ill of women. … And I don’t quite know how they managed to make this law in their favour, or who exactly it was who gave them a greater license to sin than is allowed to us; and if the fault is common to both sexes (as they can hardly deny), why should the blame not be as well? What makes them think they can boast of the same thing that in women brings only shame?”
