Are You Ready for Your First Kiss?

  1. Something’s Gotta Give (2003)

Nancy Meyer’s best romantic comedy featuring a Casanova and an acclaimed dramatist both poles apart in nature. In their 50s and 60s refusing to accept their age, the audience loved Harry and Erica though the industry wasn’t so sure about the characters of this age and they were difficulties during some scenes but little did they know, everything about them including the hilarious sex scene was loved by the audience. Getting Keaton a nomination in Oscars, the film grossed over $266 million worldwide.

  1. Kissing Jessica Stein (2002)

Even after 19 years, Kissing Jessica Stein remains one of the few mainstream, one of the most popular romantic comedies with a correct and positive queer representation. Movies on queer women are even lesser than the ones about queer men. But here we ind Jessica on a search for the perfect man but it is the twist of fate that she comes across a bisexual woman, Helen. The relationship so different and new, Jessica seems to struggle but will she be able to face it all? Full of clichés one can bear, a movie like no other that will make you wanna jump in delight.

“It isn’t possible to love and part. You will wish that it was. You can transmute love, ignore it, muddle it, but you can never pull it out of you. I know by experience that the poets are right: love is eternal.”
― E.M. Forster, A Room with a View

“I knew, in the silence that followed, that anything could happen here. It might be too late: again, I might have missed my chance. But I would at least know I tried, that I took my heart and extended my hand, whatever the outcome.
“Okay,” he said. He took a breath. “What would you do, if you could do anything?”
I took a step toward him, closing the space between us. “This,” I said. And then I kissed him.”
― Sarah Dessen, The Truth About Forever

“You could have fooled me. Everytime I called you, Luke said you were sick. I figured you were avoiding me. Again.”
“I wasn’t. I did want to talk to you. I’ve been thinking about you all the time.”
“I’ve been thinking about you, too.”
“I really was sick. I swear. I almost died back there on the ship, you know.”
“I know. Everytime you almost die, I almost die myself.”
― Cassandra Clare, City of Ashes

“Sometimes I wonder if there’s something wrong with me. Perhaps I’ve spent too long in the company of my literary romantic heroes, and consequently my ideals and expectations are far too high.”
― E.L. James, Fifty Shades of Grey
