How Well Do You Pay Attention To Detail?

If you take a closer look at any of the job descriptions you would realize that attention to detail is one of the key requirements. It may not be have been put on bluntly but it is somewhere hidden in those words. In my opinion, it is essential because think about it from the perspective of a business. Mistakes

not only costs money to the company but also several different things like time, opportunities, and partners.

Any serious company will not want that because small companies are trying to grow big while the big ones are trying to retain their position while having a serious fight with other big companies. This is the reason why many of the companies are resorting to IQ tests to test employees’ cognitive abilities. Though I would like to mention that it is illegal for companies to give IQ tests to their employees in the U.S.A. We all know that businessmen could get around these things pretty easily. They rename those tests as a test for cognitive abilities.

It is basically the same thing. If you have studied a bit of psychology then you might know it. There are also many companies that are providing services for testing IQ to other companies. While it may seem a bit harsh to you but it is a well-established fact in psychology that higher IQ is very strongly correlated to job success.

It is also important to note though that this finding is highly debated in the psychology field. One thing which almost all of the psychologists agree upon is the fact that standardized IQ tests could point out if a candidate has any learning disability.

On one side it will be difficult for that person to do any of the jobs while it might also help them to go to schools primarily made for the mentally challenged. If you look at it from the perspective of personality tests you would quickly realize that there are people who are naturally more inclined to look into the details while others are more of a ‘Big Picture Person’.

Many of the famous visionaries like Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, and Rabindranath Tagore are said to be a ‘Big Picture’ people. There is nothing wrong with any of the sides of this trait.Take this quiz and we will judge whether you are an ‘Attention to Detail’ or a ‘Big Picture Person’.

Quotes on Attention to details:

“Life on earth is a whole, yet it expresses itself in unique time-bound bodies, microscopic or visible, plant or animal, extinct or living. So there can be no one place to be. There can be no one way to be, no one way to practice, no one way to learn, no one way to love, no one way to grow or to heal, no one way to live, no one way to feel, no one thing to know or be known. The particulars count.”
― Jon Kabat-Zinn, Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life

“Some details in life may look insignificant but appear to be vital leitmotifs in a person’s life. They may have the value of “Rosebuds” of Citizen Kane or “Madeleine cookies” of Marcel Proust or “Strawberry fields” of the Beatles. People regularly walk down the memory lane of their early youth. The paper boats of their childhood are recurrently floating on the waves of their mind and bring back the mood and the spirit of the early days. They enable us to retreat from the trivial, daily worries and can generate delightful bliss and true joy in a sometimes frantic and chaotic life. (“Paper boats forever” )”

“I saw in details while she saw in scope. Not seeing the scope is why I am here and she is not. I took each element spearately and never looked to see that they never did fit together properly”
― Erin Morgenstern, The Night Circus
“If we go down the rabbit hole of our unconsciousness and try to unravel the knotty points of our life story we may encounter a bunch of hidden niceties or emotional stowaways. Forgotten details in the windmill of our mind may daintily reveal, where things might have gone wrong. (“I wonder what went wrong.”)”
