The results further clarified women in two categories based on their preference for dominant partners. The categories were the women who displayed boredom susceptibility and dis-inhibition, and anxiety. As these characteristics are not at all related to each other there are definitely different reasons behind these women preferring what they prefer. The reason for anxious women could be protection, security and comfort whereas reason for women who get easily bored prefer partners who are dominant to fulfill their desire and need of entertainment.
Because not all anxious women portrayed the need to seek a dominant partner it implied that anxious women were probable to score high on the experience-seeking aspect of sensation-seeking. This observation resulted tat there are two methods anxious women use in order to cope; first is to seek a security by a dominant partners whereas the other one is looking for a more non-conformist lifestyle which is sophisticated. This is because these women don’t want a partner to put restrictions on them and their need of seeking new experiences.
All in all here might be some truth in the stereotype that “women like bad boys” it is also true that the case is much more complicated than that. The complexity intensifies when men seek dominant partners too with the reason of fulfilling their need of excitement and entertainment. Whereas it can be concluded that women who are anxious might either seek dominant men to make them feel secured and as much as it fits into the stereotype of a damsel in distress looking for a knight; it is also true that not all anxious women are looking for partners who are dominating as they believe it can be a hindrance in their desire to experience new thing and might not necessarily open up more and more possibilities.
“You could have fooled me. Everytime I called you, Luke said you were sick. I figured you were avoiding me. Again.”
“I wasn’t. I did want to talk to you. I’ve been thinking about you all the time.”
“I’ve been thinking about you, too.”
“I really was sick. I swear. I almost died back there on the ship, you know.”
“I know. Everytime you almost die, I almost die myself.”
