Should I Get Back With My Ex?

A study published in the Journal of Neurophysiology suggests that the trauma of breaking up can be severe because rejection of love affects primitive areas of the brain associated with motivation, reward, and addiction. This study explains the painful feelings that go along with an attitude of withdrawal and all that follows, such as extreme behavior.

Here are some ways to heal wounds and feel better after breaking up, along with some tips on what to do next.

It takes time to get over it You have to stop thinking that things are going to work out right away. Give yourself some time to recover from the loss of a friendship and a partner. It’s better to cry now than to try to avoid feelings that are inevitable.

Not seriously engaging after a breakup There is a difference between enjoying your new status which is in itself unique (make sure you are safe and protected!) Being emotional with someone new and being committed immediately in another relationship can prove to be deceptive. You may think you have a good relationship with someone, but now is not the time.

Get rid of memories left by your old relationship Whether it’s photos, cards, letters or gifts, if you don’t want to throw them away, give them to a friend who will keep them for the time being. Don’t be in a hurry to get rid of everything, you might want to look back later and wish you had some memories. Keep a cool head!
