Should I Kiss Him?

I will like to clarify that there is no one who could tell you (except your very close friends) who should be your first kiss? This quiz is made only for entertainment purposes.

Hence let us discuss a few facts about kissing:

Kissing someone for the first time will give you a sudden spike in your dopamine levels. Though it has less to do with happiness rather than the feeling of wanting more. The hormone that makes you feel happy during the time is oxytocin.

This one is interesting. Kissing requires the work of a lot of your muscles. 112 postural and 34 facial muscles are required for the act.

Kissing causes your pupils to dilate. This is why you might have noticed that you tend to close your eyes as you are going to kiss. Your brain allows the dilation of pupils which causes more light to enter your eyes thereby making it more sensitive.

Out of the 12 cranial nerves 5 of them are involved in kissing. In this case it helps you to transfer signals to the other person. It helps you in getting as much information as possible during that short period of time.

It has been found that one minute of kiss causes you to lose 2 to 3 calories. It increases your metabolic activity and the number of calories burnt increases, the longer you kiss.

Kissing could keep you healthy. It has been found that kissing reduces the stress hormone cortisol which relaxes your mind. It also boosts your immunity and helps you live longer.

Besides endorphins, kissing also triggers the release of adrenaline. Adrenaline reduces the feeling of pain while oxytocin and endorphins help you to feel happy.

Kissing reduces your blood pressure. If you have kissed someone then you would have realized that your heartbeat increases during that time. Your blood vessels expand due to it and hence your blood pressure decreases a bit.

There are many more interesting facts related to kissing which we will discuss some other day. Have a good day.

“It wasn’t that long, and it certainly wasn’t the kind of kiss you see in movies these days, but it was wonderful in its own way, and all I can remember about the moment is that when our lips touched, I knew the memory would last forever.”
― Nicholas Sparks, A Walk to Remember

“It was at first almost as if he hadn’t wanted to kiss her. His mouth was hard on hers, unyielding; then he put both arms around her and pulled her against him. His lips softened. She could feel the rapid beat of his heart, taste the sweetness of apples still on his mouth. She wound her hands into his hair, as she’d wanted to do since the first time she’d seen him. His hair curled around her fingers, silky and fine. Her heart was hammering, and there was a rushing sound in her ears, like beating wings”
― Cassandra Clare

“That was my first kiss,” she said. “My first real one.”
He brought his head close, resting his forehead on hers. Blond waves fell around her face, soft against her cheeks. His chest rose and fell as he drew in a breath. “Felt like the first real one for me, too.”
― Veronica Rossi, Under the Never Sky

“Then he kissed her. Betsy didn’t believe in letting boys kiss you. She thought it was silly to be letting first this boy and then that one kiss you, when it didn’t mean a thing. But it was wonderful when Joe Willard kissed her. And it did mean a thing.”
― Maud Hart Lovelace, Betsy and Joe

“The secret is,” I say, whispering right into his ear, “that yours was the best kiss I’ve ever had in my life.”
“But I’ve never kissed you,” he whispers back. Around us the rain sounds like falling glass. “Not since third grade, anyway.”
I smile, but I’m not sure if he can see it.
“Better get started, then,” I say, “because I don’t have much time.”
― Lauren Oliver, Before I Fall
