Tell Us About Your Personality and We’ll Match You to a Surprise Tattoo!

Lost in Translation

Lead author Rachid Laajaj who is an economics researcher at the University of Los Andes in Columbia  says that one of the major reason behind the failure of “Big Five” tests is rooted in literacy and education barriers. Many tests designed keeping a specific group of people don’t seem to be reliable in for a group who can’t read or write. Hence in some developing countries these tests might have to be given verbally which leads to difficulties in translation or phrasing. In cases of face-to-face questioning it was observed that candidates answered questions with answers which seemed more favorable by others. For instance, agreeing to a statement which isn’t true.

Because of lack of education people also had a difficult time understanding questions. As for people unaware about such tests, they were hesitant to share information about their personality with others hence lied. Someone who is alien to to such a concept will consider giving wrong information to a bunch of people asking them personal questions rather than answering them correctly.

Tailor the Test

Researchers expect the drawbacks of their studies at least help researchers, employers, and even policymakers to understand that personality tests aren’t a hundred percent reliable as they are designed keeping in mind mind a white western world. Such a test is biased and measures should be taken to adapt a more neutral stance. It is indeed a difficult and time consuming process but it is vital for such tests to be relevant for people form all walks of life.

“A tattoo is a true poetic creation, and is always more than meets the eye. As a tattoo is grounded on living skin, so its essence emotes a poignancy unique to the mortal human condition.”

“It occurred to me that my cheek was probably right over his tattoo. Without thinking, I lifted my face and tugged at the neckline of his T-shirt. This time, the stark black-and-gold mark wasn’t hidden. No need for that spell anymore, I guess. Still, I covered it with my palm. Archer’s hands clutched reflexively on my waist. Our eyes met. “It doesn’t burn this time,” I whispered.

His breathing was ragged. “Beg to differ, Mercer.”

“heavily tattooed women can be said to control and subvert the ever-present ‘male gaze’ by forcing men (and women) to look at their bodies in a manner that exerts control.”
― Margo DeMello

“Suddenly, everything was beautiful. The way she viewed the world was nothing more but a reflection of herself.”

“She was broken from moment to moment, watching her world collide she felt lost inside herself. She fell apart for a passion that flamed beneath her. She waited and died a hundred times, it dripped from her pores. The moment she let go, she soared over the stillness like the star she was born to be.”
