What Motivates You?

In this modern world, we all are running after finding the motivation to do our work. We all are looking at external sources for motivation. This pretty much explains the rise in the number of motivational gurus on the internet. I don’t say that all of them are fake but a good majority of them are. The simple reason is that they are running after nothing but money and fame. You will often find that they have a cult-like following. It is simply because of the fact they never teach their audience how to think critically. They are just feeding their audience’s ‘feel good’ fetish.

Their audience feels good after watching their videos or reading their books and they in turn make money.

The self-industry is rising exponentially due to this very reason. There are a few characteristics that are common in these fake videos or self-books.

They will oversimplify the problem.

  • They will quote some famous personality and surround it buzzwords to make you feel that they are talking sense. Quoting some famous personality also helps them in gaining your trust.
  • Next, they will somehow tell you that it is not very easy to achieve something which is true BTW. But they will tell you that there are some secrets which you will only know if you join their course, seminar or their club.
  • Then they will put you in a loop where you will be buying their courses, seminars and you will feel motivated like hell. During that time you will fail that you are on a path to achieve something great but you are not.
  • The fact is that when we keep listening to them we are in an illusion of doing work. While in reality, we are just consuming their content by burning thousands of dollars.

The only thing which I had realized after coming out of it is that true motivation comes only from inside. No matter how charged up you feel after listening to them you will always lose it and in most of the cases, you will never stop listening to them.

Play the quiz and remember one thing that motivation comes from INSIDE.

“Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you. Choose wisely.”
― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

“Of course motivation is not permanent. But then, neither is bathing; but it is something you should do on a regular basis.”
― Zig Ziglar, Raising Positive Kids in a Negative World

“Surround Yourself with People Who Believe in Your Dreams:
Surround yourself with people who believe in your dreams, encourage your ideas, support your ambitions, and bring out the best in you.”
― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

“It’s never too late to change your life for the better. You don’t have to take huge steps to change your life. Making even the smallest changes to your daily routine can make a big difference to your life.”
― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

“The biggest wall you have to climb is the one you build in your mind: Never let your mind talk you out of your dreams, trick you into giving up. Never let your mind become the greatest obstacle to success. To get your mind on the right track, the rest will follow.”
― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

“Patience Is Not the Ability to Wait:
Patience is not the ability to wait. Patience is to be calm no matter what happens, constantly take action to turn it to positive growth opportunities, and have faith to believe that it will all work out in the end while you are waiting.”
― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

“You are unique. You have different talents and abilities. You don’t have to always follow in the footsteps of others. And most important, you should always remind yourself that you don’t have to do what everyone else is doing and have a responsibility to develop the talents you have been given.”
― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
