What Vegan Food Should You Try Based on Your Junk Food Habits?

If you have to inquire, you are most likely eating it. Even trace amounts can cause harm and pathology in the body—not just emotionally, but physiologically.
Indeed, consume some junk food that contains no fat, and 50% of it will convert to stored body fat. And, as most people are aware, junk food is a primary contributor to the global obesity epidemic, which affects everyone from the poor to the most serious athletes.

Apart from contributing to increased body fat, junk food may be the leading cause of the most prevalent diseases, including cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and heart disease, not to mention the problems that significantly contribute to a low quality of life, such as intestinal conditions, hormone imbalance, chronic inflammation, and fatigue (even hair loss). As a result, some public health officials wish to refer to junk food as pathogenic food. However, that will not happen soon enough due to the food industry’s ongoing multimillion-dollar marketing campaigns—the image of these bad foods is now being portrayed as harmless rather than the poison they truly are.

However, the term “pathologic food” refers to food that has the potential to cause pathological conditions, including those associated with excess body fat.

In all of its guises—amazing it’s how easily even the most vigilant consumer can be duped—junk food, which includes soda, chips, and candy, is one of the world’s most successful business ventures. It is found in large quantities in almost all Western households, as well as in the East, including China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. It is even prevalent in the Third World, where millions of starving people have become obese in just one generation as a result of junk food.

It is widely believed that Michael Jacobson, director of the American Center for Science in the Public Interest, coined the term junk food in 1972. (a consumer advocacy organisation that focuses on health and nutrition). However, defining junk food has proven difficult, in part because the number of items is staggering, and in part because the food landscape is constantly changing, with new and improved products appearing almost daily.

When it comes to defining junk food, the worst examples are chips and cookies, coke and colas, and other sugared beverages, candy, and the majority of other snacks. Sugar (including sucrose, white table sugar, and others such as high fructose corn syrups) and flour are the worst offenders, as are the thousands of products containing these two deadly ingredients (from ketchup and mayonnaise to energy bars and sports products, and almost all liquid refreshments).

For those on the go, junk food is synonymous with fast food and includes almost all burgers, fries, pizza, fried chicken, and battered, coated, or sauced foods. This includes popular “salads” such as tuna and chicken salad, as well as low-calorie dressings. The majority of international foods fall into the junk food category, including Chinese food (which is high in sugar, starch, and or flour), sushi (which is white rice with added sugar), sweetened teriyaki foods, and deep fried fish and chips.

Are you planning to have lunch at a deli? All of the popular ham and American cheese sandwiches on a roll are junk food. As is the case with the pasta salad served with crackers (almost all pasta, noodles and similar items are junk). Naturally, a plain bagel and diet coke are also considered junk food. Rather than that, prepare a salad with leaf lettuce, tomatoes, red peppers, carrots, and slices of real roast beef or Swiss cheese. Leave out the mayonnaise and ketchup, but substitute mustard (after reading the ingredients) or olive oil and vinegar.

As you push a shopping cart down a food store aisle, it’s almost certain that anything in a can, frozen, or packaged form is junk food. Consider a can of peaches, which may appear to be healthy—but most are loaded with sugar. Rather than that, purchase seasonal fresh fruit. Even the most trendy bulk foods available in health food stores and other retailers, despite their quirky image of being pure and natural, are junk food.
