Which Cat Breed Are You?

Let us talk about one of the most famous pet in the world: Cats. There are many different cat breeds in the US but we will only talk about a few.

Here we go:

American Shorthair:

The American Shorthair has come with the Mayflower colonists. They have an average weight of 10 lbs. They mostly live around for 15-20 years. Though they are moderately active, they are skilled hunters. They are calm, sociable, and could get along with birds or small pets.

As you might know, these cats are named after the dancers of Bali island in Indonesia. They weigh around 5-10 lbs. Have a lifespan of 9-15 years. You could call them the long-haired haired version of the Siamese. They are highly intelligent, agile, and athletic. The cat is very demanding and it needs your attention. It also commands authority from other pets in the family.

Exotic Shorthair:

They are often called the lazy man’s Persian. Weighing around 8-13 lbs they are awesome as pets. They have an average lifespan of 10-13 years. They are created with the cross-breeding of Persians with American Shorthair. They are playful and want to learn new tricks. They have a similar temperament to Persians but are considered livelier than them.

They were created with cross-breeding to resemble a panther.

They weigh around 6-11 lbs. Having an average lifespan of about 12-16 years they are a good fit for a family. They are completely black in color. Active, agile they love to learn new tricks and be around people.

American Curl:

It is said that American Curl is one of the youngest cat breeds. It weighs a decent 5-10 lbs and has an average lifespan of 14 years. It has got its name from its ears. Their unique type of ears curls back after a happy, alert expression. They are very affectionate towards families with children and are dog-friendly.

It is a crosshair between an Asian Leopard and domestic shorthair. The cat weighs around 8-15 lbs. It has an average lifespan of 10-16 years. They are highly intelligent and active. They are very confident and you just can’t scare them.

“Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods.”
― Christopher Hitchens, The Portable Atheist: Essential Readings for the Nonbeliever

“Curiosity killed the cat,” Fesgao remarked, his dark eyes unreadable.
Aly rolled her eyes. Why did everyone say that to her? “People always forget the rest of the saying,” she complained. “‘And satisfaction brought it back.”
― Tamora Pierce , Trickster’s Choice

“And how do you know that you’re mad? “To begin with,” said the Cat, “a dog’s not mad. You grant that?” I suppose so, said Alice. “Well then,” the Cat went on, “you see a dog growls when it’s angry, and wags it’s tail when it’s pleased. Now I growl when I’m pleased, and wag my tail when I’m angry. Therefore I’m mad.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

“Holding this soft, small living creature in my lap this way, though, and seeing how it slept with complete trust in me, I felt a warm rush in my chest. I put my hand on the cat’s chest and felt his heart beating. The pulse was faint and fast, but his heart, like mine, was ticking off the time allotted to his small body with all the restless earnestness of my own.”
― Haruki Murakami, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle

“And then there were cats, thought Dog. He’d surprised the huge ginger cat from next door and had attempted to reduce it to cowering jelly by means of the usual glowing stare and deep-throated growl, which had always worked on the damned in the past. This time they had earned him a whack on the nose that had made his eyes water. Cats, Dog considered, were clearly a lot tougher than lost souls. He was looking forward to a further cat experiment, which he planned would consist of jumping around and yapping excitedly at it. It was a long shot, but it just might work.”
― Terry Pratchett, Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
