Gender pay gap is much more complex than people usually understand. It might stand 15.3% currently in Australia but it conceals several differences about how men and women are paid which public in general is not aware of. It is has been revealed that women earn upto 23% less than men at higher income levels where as the gap is negligible at lower income levels.
Recently a study was conducted in order to determine and assess the impact of psychological traits and cognitive skills pay gap in Australia. The study disclosed how different types of behaviour in women and men are rewarded or penalised.
It was observed that women who were skilled with their word-reading ability could take advantage of it when on high incomes than men. But women were also penalised for being “agreeable” where men weren’t. How such attributes are treated in the society eventually has an impact o the kinds of carer choice one makes along with influence on one’s income.
Our study looked at data on word-reading, working memory and matching symbols tests (cognitive skills); as well as conscientiousness, openness to experience, agreeableness, extroversion and emotional stability (psychological traits) from the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia survey (HILDA).

“Exactly. These guys just want me to play Snow White singing in her little cottage while they do all the work.’
Lucy snorted. ‘Snow White and the Seven Buttheads. You could give Disney a run for their money.’
Nicholas poked her in the ribs. ‘I am not a singing dwarf!’
‘No, you’re a butthead. Weren’t you paying attention?”
