Which Personality Type Is Your Best Friend?

As we all know that there are many different personality types. Each one of them has their own quirks and features. While it is true that all of us are unique in our own way but the fact is that we could not be liked by everyone. It is seen that a particular personality type will be liked only by a particular set of other personality types. Though it might not always be true and there are chances that a few people will be liked even with their incompatible types.

It turns out that measuring compatibility could be an efficient tool in many different areas of life. For example corporates are giving personality tests before employing them as they don’t want people who don’t fit their culture. While this decision of companies might turn catastrophic if they use personality tests that don’t have any scientific foundation to it, for example, MBTI is widely used even if it is not scientifically validated. The problem with non-scientific tests is that they could be very unreliable and could have different results even if taken at different times of the day.

There are many scientifically validated ones like the Big 5 or the HEXACO PI-R. The Big 5 is the most recognized in the scientific community and for now, scientists are using it extensively. HEXACO PI-R is also well-recognized in the scientific community and you could rely on it. In my opinion, the scientifically validated ones are not that famous because they don’t put you in groups. We all like to be in some kind of groups and these famous ones will mostly have this feature.

Personality tests could also be used in finding relationship matches as it is also very crucial to our lives. We no longer live in joint families and so there are fewer important people in the family, hence finding the compatible one is very necessary.

These tests can be used in many different aspects of our lives but it should not be used to form groups and bash those who don’t belong to our group. You could widely see that happening in case of the MBTI or the Enneagram.

“The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first.”

“I feel too much. That’s what’s going on.’ ‘Do you think one can feel too much? Or just feel in the wrong ways?’ ‘My insides don’t match up with my outsides.’ ‘Do anyone’s insides and outsides match up?’ ‘I don’t know. I’m only me.’ ‘Maybe that’s what a person’s personality is: the difference between the inside and outside.’ ‘But it’s worse for me.’ ‘I wonder if everyone thinks it’s worse for him.’ ‘Probably. But it really is worse for me.”
― Jonathan Safran Foer, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

“I used to think that finding the right one was about the man having a list of certain qualities. If he has them, we’d be compatible and happy. Sort of a checkmark system that was a complete failure. But I found out that a healthy relationship isn’t so much about sense of humor or intelligence or attractive. It’s about avoiding partners with harmful traits and personality types. And then it’s about being with a good person. A good person on his own, and a good person with you. Where the space between you feels uncomplicated and happy. A good relationship is where things just work. They work because, whatever the list of qualities, whatever the reason, you happen to be really, really good together.”
― Deb Caletti, The Secret Life of Prince Charming

“When you are joyful, when you say yes to life and have fun and project positivity all around you, you become a sun in the center of every constellation, and people want to be near you.”
― Shannon L. Alder
