We’re Still Cringing About The Most Awkward Oscar Moments Of All Time

1. 1973: When Marlon Brando Didn’t Accept His Award

The 1973 Oscar Awards saw one of the most awkward moments in the history of the show. Marlon Brando a leading man for decades, won his second award for the Best Actor for his role in the evergreen film The Godfather. After the announcement, he was nowhere to be found, unlike other actors who are directed to the stage. Instead, Brando sent actress Sacheen Littlefeather to decline the award. She was dressed in traditional garb and used the platform to give a speech against how the Native Americans are treated in movies and TV shows. Though the gesture was bold it was not well received by his fans and well-wishers. It is rightly remembered sometimes as the most awkward moment of the show.
